Deep ruby, smoke- and spice-accented dark berry and cherry-cola aromas are brightened by a subtle mineral element and a hint of fresh rose. Juicy and seamless on the palate, offering plush, oak-spiced blackberry and mocha flavors and a touch of bitter herbs. Fine-grained tannins give grip to the finish, which clings with very good spicy tenacity. This drinks quite nicely right now, especially with an hour or so of aeration; it’s a great introduction to this iconic producer’s style at an extremely fair price.
