Cadus is a perfectly formed winery near Tupungato, in the shadow of the Andes Mountains, within the Uco Valley. This high-altitude region has quickly built a reputation as the home of premium Mendozan wines and the Cadus range is no exception. The soil profiles and compositions within the Uco Valley vary within short distances, allowing for different grape varieties and resulting in wines styles with unique characteristics.
Winemakers, Santiago Mayorga, has access to some of the best vineyard sites in Mendoza. The focus is on small productions of high-quality wines. Gualtallary is a charming micro region located in the Tupugnato Appellation of Uco Valley, Mendoza. Located at an altitude of 1300masl (which gives intense cold night temperatures), the terroir is outstanding with limestone, sandy and rocky soils. 60% of the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels of 1st, 2nd and 3rd use.
The combination of altitude (1300m) and rocky soils provide a platform for Malbec to excel. Intense purple in colour, the wine displays great depth of black fruits, fresh herbal notes and spice. The palate is elegant with lovely weight, crunchy black fruits and fresh acidity. The finish is firm and granitic yet rich in supple fruit.
Roasted lamb, red meats, and the perfect match to the traditional “empanadas” from Argentina (home-made meat pies). Or perfect as a comforting, fireside wine.
