Located in the northeastern corner of Spain, Castillo Perelada has a history dating back to the 14th century when it was originally a fortified castle. The estate has evolved through the ages, and in the 20th century, it transformed into a winemaking haven under the guidance of the Suqué Mateu family.  Their commitment to preserving the region’s traditions while embracing modern techniques has allowed Castillo Perelada to establish itself as a prominent name in the Spanish wine industry.
The Castillo Perelada 5 Finques Reserva is a testament to the winery’s dedication to quality and its understanding of the region’s unique terroir. The name, “5 Finques,” pays homage to the five distinct estates from which the grapes are sourced: Espolla, La Garriga, Malaveïna, Marquès, and Garbet. Each of these properties boasts a specific microclimate and soil composition, contributing to the wine’s complexity.
As you take your first sip, the wine’s rich and velvety texture envelops your palate, revealing flavors of ripe cherries, plums, and blackberries. The well-integrated tannins provide structure, while the oak aging imparts hints of vanilla and toasted oak. The finish is long and persistent, leaving you with a lingering sense of the Mediterranean sunshine.
This is an excellent companion for grilled meats, roasted lamb, and hearty stews. Additionally, it complements Mediterranean cuisine, such as paella, with finesse. The wine’s elegant profile also makes it a delightful choice for savouring on its own.
