From a rather modest 7.3 hectares of vines grown on the limestone slope of the St Emilion plateau. The grape varieties used are Merlot and Cabernet Franc, which are all hand harvested and sorted before arriving at the sorting table for a further meticulous selection. Rich and opulent with vivid aromas of black fruit, violets and toasty notes. The palate has superb fruit concentration on the mid palate which is velvety smooth also exhibiting flavours reminescent of asian spice, cedar wood and cigar box. Expected drinking window: 2007-2020.
A fine wine, this dark purple-colored effort reveals black raspberry, blackberry, mineral, and floral aromas in its complex, multidimensional bouquet. In the mouth, it is medium-bodied, with sweet, ripe fruit, firm tannin, good acidity, and a long, well-endowed, moderately tannic finish. Moreover, it will be a long-lived wine. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020. 91 Points erobertparker.com
