Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is legendary for its age-worthy Châteauneuf-du-Pape, crafted by the Brunier family for over a century. This esteemed estate consistently produces some of the most exceptional red wines of the Southern Rhône. Each sip of the Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape rouge tells the story of its unique terroir: the Mediterranean climate, the stony “galets” of the Crau plateau, and the elevation that imparts intensity, complexity, and mineral freshness to the old-vine fruit.
The winemaking process involves partial whole-bunch fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel and oak cuves, followed by approximately 10 months in cement tanks, then another 12 months of maturation in oak foudres. The fully mature 1995 vintage is a blend of 65% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre, and 5% other traditional varietals
“The 1995 is undoubtedly the finest wine this estate has produced since the renowned 1978. The wine possesses a roasted herb, meaty character accompanied by a lavish display of jammy black fruits, as well as superb concentration, admirable fat and density, adequate acidity, and a lusty, full-bodied finish with some tannin. Already delicious, it will keep for another 15+ years.” Wine Advocate, 2003
Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape pairs well with rich, flavorful dishes that complement its depth and structure. Try it with herb-crusted rack of lamb, braised lamb shanks, or game meats like venison and duck breast with berry sauce to enhance the wine’s earthy, fruity notes. Grilled ribeye, beef stew, and Mediterranean dishes like moussaka and ratatouille also make excellent pairings. For cheese, aged varieties like Gouda or Comté work beautifully with its bold profile
