The Rhône Valley is one of France’s oldest wine regions, with a history of winemaking that dates back to Roman times. It is divided into two main sub-regions: the Northern Rhône and the Southern Rhône, both of which contribute different characteristics to the wines produced in the area. Saint-Esprit (Holy Spirit) Côtes du Rhône is sourced primarily from vineyards located in the Northern Rhône, giving it a unique identity compared to many other Côtes du Rhône wines that lean more heavily on Southern Rhône varietals.
The terroir of the Northern Rhône, with its steep granite slopes and cooler climate, is ideal for growing Syrah, the dominant grape in this blend. Grenache, Mourvèdre, and other varietals often complement the blend, bringing complexity, richness, and spice
The wines are kept in vats to preserve fruit aromas. They are racked regularly in order to allow their components to stabilize naturally. The “Saint Esprit” cuvée is bottled after 8 months of aging
Its deep color has a dark, plum-like hue. On the nose is classically Syrah, with berry fruit, violet, liquorice. It has a full, rounded palate with delicate tannins, making it unique in the “Côtes-du-Rhône” category
Pairs well with “Provençal” style cuisine, stuffed tomatoes and eggplants, mixed grills and barbecues.
