Domaine de Chevalier 2019

The Domaine de Chevalier located in Léognan, the Capital town of the Graves Region has a long history. It appears on the famous map of Pierre de Belleyme in 1783. In 1983 the estate was purchased by the Bernard Family, N° 1 in France on the spirits market and a major negociant of premium Bordeaux wines. It has been run ever since by Olivier Bernard who perpetuates that spirit of balance and the constant drive for perfection which have been the hallmark of this outstanding wine. The red Domaine de Chevalier, the flagship of the Pessac-Léognan appellation belongs to the elite of the great classified growths of Bordeaux.

A blend of 60 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 30 % Merlot, 6 % Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc

Elegant and refined, the wine is medium/full-bodied, and quickly focuses you on its core of smoky red pit fruits and berries, espresso, herbs, forest leaf and tobacco. Soft, polished and fresh, there is length, purity, energy, complexity and character here in spades which is all wrapped up perfectly with its silky tannins and soft, sexy, harmonious finish. This should age and evolve for at least 3 decades or more. Drink from 2029-2055.

97 Points Jeff Leve

Domaine de Chevalier 2019 is a versatile wine that pairs exceptionally well with a range of dishes. Its elegant structure and vibrant acidity make it a perfect match for roasted meats, such as herb-crusted lamb or beef Wellington. The wine also complements rich poultry dishes like duck à l’orange or coq au vin. For seafood lovers, grilled salmon or a delicate lobster dish enhances the wine’s nuanced flavors. Additionally, a selection of creamy cheeses, such as Brie or a tangy goat cheese, provides a delightful contrast, making this wine an excellent choice for any dining occasion.
