John Duval is a legendary name. As only the third winemaker to be entrusted with the making of Australia’s most famous wine, Grange, John worked for Penfolds for 28 years (including 16 years as chief winemaker) until his departure in 2002. His red wines are made from grapes sourced from old Barossa vines aged between 50 and 100 years old and showcase the best of the Barossa region. Complete and spicy and very southern Rhône like, earthy spice characters combine well with a touch of savoury oak. The palate is rich, round and full of concentrated, bright berry fruit supported by vibrant acidity and soft, ripe tannins. A touch of oak adds complexity to the long, layered finish.
