When it comes to Champagne, few names resonate with as much prestige and heritage as Laurent-Perrier. Founded in 1812, the house of Laurent-Perrier has been synonymous with finesse, quality, and innovation, producing some of the most celebrated Champagnes in the world. Among its impressive portfolio, the Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée NV stands out as a quintessential expression of the brand’s dedication to excellence.
This Champagne is notable for its high Chardonnay content, comprising over 50% of the blend, with the remainder made up of Pinot Noir and a small proportion of Pinot Meunier. This dominance of Chardonnay is a hallmark of Laurent-Perrier’s style, imparting a fresh and crisp profile that distinguishes La Cuvée from many of its peers.
On the nose, it opens with bright aromas of fresh citrus, green apple, and white flowers, interwoven with subtle hints of brioche and almond, a nod to its extended aging on the lees. This aging process, which lasts for at least four years (considerably longer than the minimum requirement for NV Champagnes), contributes to its depth and complexity.
On the palate, La Cuvée is beautifully balanced, with a lively acidity that brings a refreshing vibrancy. The citrus and orchard fruit are complemented by a creamy texture, underscored by minerality that adds length and elegance to the finish. The mousse is fine and persistent, enhancing the wine’s overall finesse.
Its crisp acidity and delicate flavours make it an excellent companion for seafood dishes, such as oysters, scallops, and sushi. It also pairs well with light poultry dishes, and creamy cheeses.
