Domaine Paul Blanck is a family-owned winery that traces its roots back to the 17th century. Located in the heart of the Alsace region, the winery has been producing wine for generations. Today, the estate is run by the Blanck family, who continue the tradition of crafting wines that showcase the distinctive character of Alsace’s terroir. The winery is located in the village of Kientzheim, near the town of Colmar, and spans some of the best vineyard sites in the region, including several Grand Cru plots.
The estate’s approach to winemaking is one of respect for both the land and the local traditions. They focus on producing wines that are reflective of the terroir, utilizing both modern techniques and time-honored methods.
Pinot Blanc is a versatile grape variety that is widely grown throughout Alsace. While it is often overshadowed by more famous varietals like Riesling and Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc holds a special place in the hearts of Alsatian winemakers. The grape is known for producing wines that are crisp, fresh, and highly expressive of their origins.
On the nose, it offers an inviting bouquet of fresh fruit aromas of ripe pear, green apple, and citrus, along with hints of floral notes and a touch of minerality, reflecting the limestone-rich soils of the region.
On the palate, the wine is light to medium-bodied with a crisp acidity that provides structure and freshness. The fruit flavours are balanced by a subtle creaminess and a delicate roundness that comes from the wine’s brief period of aging on the lees. The finish is clean, refreshing, and lingering,
The wine’s balanced profile also makes it suitable for pairing with dishes that feature delicate herbs, like a lemon and herb roasted chicken or a fresh salad with goat cheese. Its versatility extends to more casual fare as well, such as charcuterie, grilled vegetables, or even sushi.
