Teliani Wine People Shavkapito

Teliani Valley was established in the 1990s by a group of enthusiastic young winemakers. Originally a converted car workshop was their home, but with their tremendous vineyards and skill for making quality wines, they have gone from strength to strength and are now one of the biggest producers in Georgia, with annual production of 5 million bottles.

Although their roots go back years and their connection with traditional winemaking is still strong, Teliani Valley today attracts and supports the most exciting winemakers in Georgia. Their team of innovative winemakers who are given the time, equipment, fruit and support they need to create exciting modern style wines, and we think that is evident in the selection we have here.

100% Shavkapito, an indigenous Georgian grape variety, hand harvested in central Gori Region, Central Kartli. The wine is fermented on skins for 7-10 days, then a secondary malolactic fermentation takes place for 15 days. Once the alcoholic fermentation is finished skins are separated from the wine and it continues to mature in Qvevri for 6-8 additional months.

On the nose, you are greeted with vibrant aromas of ripe red berries, plums, and a hint of spiciness. The palate reveals silky tannins and well-balanced acidity, with an elegant lingering finish. This wine is full-bodied and exhibits a surprisingly refined complexity.

This wine pairs perfectly with various dishes. It is an excellent choice to accompany grilled red meat, game dishes, and rich stews. The wine can enhance the flavours of these dishes, creating a harmonious culinary experience.
