Wild Irishman TŪTURI Pinot Noir 2021

There is something special about Alexandra for Alan Brady, which explains his desire to further explore this sub region of Central Otago. One of his initial wines of the Wild Irishman label was crafted with fruit from Alexandra in 2006, which allowed him to discover the true potential of the southernmost wine growing region in the world. Central Otago is known for producing some of the best Pinot Noir wines globally. The region’s unique terroir and climate, which includes hot summers and cold winters, produce grapes with intense flavors and aromas. This wine is made from grapes grown on the Tuturi Vineyard, located in the Lowburn subregion of Central Otago. The vineyard is situated on a steep slope with a northerly aspect, which provides excellent exposure to sunlight.

The Wild Irishman Tuturi Pinot Noir is made using traditional winemaking techniques, with a focus on minimal intervention. The grapes are handpicked and sorted before undergoing fermentation in small batches. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 11 months before being bottled.

The resulting wine is a beautiful expression of Central Otago Pinot Noir. It has a deep ruby color and a complex aroma that includes notes of dark cherries, plums, and spices. On the palate, the wine is rich and full-bodied, with a silky texture and flavors of black cherry, raspberry, and vanilla. The finish is long and smooth, with a hint of tannins that provide structure and balance.

The Wild Irishman Tuturi Pinot Noir is an excellent wine to pair with food. Its rich flavor and full body make it an ideal accompaniment to roasted meats, game, and hearty stews. It also pairs well with rich, creamy cheeses and chocolate desserts.

In addition to its exceptional quality, the Wild Irishman Tuturi Pinot Noir has a fascinating backstory. The vineyard was originally planted in the late 1800s by an Irishman named John Gillies, who is said to have lived a wild and adventurous life. His vineyard was abandoned during the 1900s but was rediscovered in the 1990s and has since been restored to its former glory.

Overall, the Wild Irishman Tuturi Pinot Noir is an excellent representation of Central Otago’s world-class wines. It is a wine with a rich history and a distinct character that is sure to delight wine lovers around the world.
